Bus Passenger Accident Claims
If you have suffered an injury whilst travelling as a passenger on a bus or other form of public transport you may be able to make a claim for compensation. We can advise you about your claim and ensure that you receive the compensation that you are entitled to.
Personal injury compensation for injured bus passengers
Bus operators have a duty to take reasonable steps to ensure that the internal parts of the bus are safe for passengers’ use and a duty to ensure that bus drivers do not drive in such a way as to endanger passengers.
Common types of bus passenger accident claims
We regularly handle cases involving personal injuries sustained on a bus. An accident on a bus can occur in a number of ways including:
- a road accident involving a bus and another vehicle where the other driver was at fault
- injuries caused to passengers as a result of the bus driver’s negligent or dangerous driving
- slipping and tripping accidents on buses
- falls on buses
How do I prove that I was a passenger on the bus at the time of the injury?
If you have been injured in an accident on a bus you may be entitled to make a claim for compensation. An important aspect of this type of claim is providing evidence that you were a passenger on the bus when the injury was sustained. In many cases the bus driver will take details of the passengers on the bus at the time of an accident or will take details of any injury reported to them.
Keep your bus ticket if it is available
In many cases no details are taken from passengers by the driver at the time the accident occurs. Therefore your bus ticket will be one important evidence to prove that you were on the bus at the time of the accident. You should always keep your ticket as evidence of travel if you have been injured on a bus. This will also help to correctly identify bus upon which you were travelling.
Witnesses and CCTV
If you do not have a ticket it may still be possible to prove that you were a passenger on the bus by reference to witnesses – including your own friends or family who may have been with you at the time. Many buses also operate CCTV cameras which may have recorded you on the bus and may have recorded the accident which caused the injury.
