A man who was injured when his stationary vehicle was hit head-on by a negligent driver has been awarded personal injury compensation after instructing Beckett & Co Solicitors to pursue a no win – no fee road accident claim.
The claimant was sitting in his parked and stationary vehicle on a residential road in Preston when another vehicle, approaching from the opposite direction, collided head-on with the front of his vehicle. The collision caused the claimant’s vehicle to be shunted backwards several feet and caused extensive damage to both vehicles which had to be towed from the scene. The police attended and took details of the incident.
The claimant suffered pain and stiffness in his neck, back and shoulders as well as headaches and pain in his arms and legs and accordingly he attended his GP later that day. The GP diagnosed whiplash injuries and prescribed strong painkillers and anti-inflammatory medication. The claimant initially had difficulty walking and his sleep was disturbed by pain. The symptoms were worse in the first week then gradually improved over the course of the next few months.
Beckett & Co brought a no win – no fee road accident claim against the other driver and his insurance company. Following submission of full claim details the insurers admitted liability for the accident. Full repairs were carried out to our client’s vehicle and a claim was made for personal injury compensation.
After obtaining medical evidence confirming the extent of the injuries sustained, the injury claim was submitted to the insurers. The insurers offered the sum of £1900 in compensation. The claim was handled by personal injury solicitor Donna Beckett who recommended that this offer be rejected and after further negotiation secured an increased settlement of £2260.00 which was accepted by the client. The client received 100% of his compensation without any deduction.
